Vancouver Tourism Gets a Boost as TransLink Adds Extra Bus Services for the Holidays
In a bid to improve the overall travel experience for residents and tourists alike, TransLink is set to introduce significant changes to its bus services across Metro Vancouver. Starting Monday, 5 January 2026, 37 bus routes will see increased capacity as part of the company’s Winter Service Plan. These changes are designed to address issues of overcrowding, enhance service reliability, and extend service hours, ensuring that the transit network continues to meet the needs of Vancouver’s growing population and visitors during the busy winter months.
The changes come at a time when Vancouver is seeing an increase in tourism and demand for public transportation. With Metro Vancouver’s expanding tourism offerings, including winter festivals, outdoor activities, and the holiday shopping season, the adjustments to bus routes are expected to provide tourists with more accessible and convenient travel options.
One of the key aspects of the Winter Service Plan is the addition of more buses on 37 routes across Vancouver. By increasing capacity, TransLink aims to reduce wait times and minimize overcrowding, ensuring that passengers can travel more comfortably and efficiently. These adjustments are particularly significant during the winter months, when rain and snow can create additional challenges for commuters and tourists trying to navigate the city.
