Malaysia is planning large human formation displays. They mark National Day with a bigger visual show this year.
This year’s Malaysia National Day celebrations in Putrajaya are expected to have smartly researched refreshed elements. Among the events showcasing the new aspect, the organizers of the celebrations cite the ‘Malaysia Tradition’ as an example. 1,500 students from 36 schools will contribute to the event which will run from Aug 1st to 31st, with the final celebration being held on National Day. Visitors can expect a new musical palette, new props, and a modern choreographic approach to the formations. The routine will be 16 minutes long and will interlace Gen Z pop songs with traditional music. This year, the performers will open their routine with trampolines and kompang.
The formations will be modernized, but will include traditional elements. Traditionally, participants are required to move large props, but this year, for the first time, the prop designs will be simple. For outdoor events, shelters will be built. The heat will be ther most limiting factor and the rehearsals will be moved to the early hours of the day. Bringing elementary school students to the venue will be an added logistical challenge. The task of combining entertainment and public safety will be a new challenge for the organizers.
