Peru to install cameras at Machu Picchu after tourists damage sacred property
Just a few days back, it was in the news that five foreign tourists were arrested for damaging the sacred and ancient Inca citadel in Machu Picchu. Nobody had expected such misbehavior but it did happen and took one and all by surprise. After the incident, the authorities in Peru have now announced that they are now installing security cameras at Machu Picchu to safeguard the ancient property from such tourists.
Jose Bastante, who is the head of the archaeological park in Machu Picchu informed that a total of 18 cameras will be installed at three secret places. These cameras will be placed strategically at all the significant locations in the region. Also, they will try to install these security cameras on possible access points in the mountains enveloping the revered complex. The authorities will also deploy drones for increased security.
Mr. Bastante said that by doing this, they will get better control and visitors will avoid any action or infraction to the regulations, also curtailing any type of risk.
