Super Nintendo World Confirmed for New Universal Theme Park

Officials from the Universal Orlando Resort announced Thursday that Super Nintendo World would be part of the upcoming Epic Universe theme park. According to WESH.com, Comcast executives confirmed previous reports that Super Nintendo World would be a featured land in the new Universal theme park when asked directly during an earnings call. The Epic Universe theme park is currently scheduled to open in 2023 and will be built north of the Orange County Convention Center. Construction on the facility is expected to kick into high gear next year, and Comcast officials expect the facility to “draw big crowds.”

Tourism Authority of Thailand invites all to Udon Thani’s ‘Pink Water Lilies Lake’ experience

One of Thailand’s most beautiful wetlands is in full bloom from now until March 2020 in Thailand. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is inviting local Thai and international tourists to come and experience the amazing sight of the ‘Pink Water Lilies Lake’ at Nong Han Kumphawapi, a freshwater lake in Thailand’s Northeastern province of Udon Thani. The lake covers an area of 22,500 rai (36 sq km) mostly in Kumphawapi district and parts of Prachaksinlapakhomand Ku Kaeo districts. It provides fresh water for agriculture and local consumption for Thais living around the lake and is considered one of Thailand’s most important wetlands. The perfect time to see the flowers in full bloom is each morning from 06:00 to 11:00 hrs. Tourists can hire personal cruise boats to see the pink water lilies up close and enjoy the natural scenery filled with a variety of fish, birds, wildlife and other aquatic life.

Watch a movie at the Chennai International Airport as PVR prepares to open a five-screen theater

While we can safely say that the types of airport entertainment have increased by leaps and bounds over the past few years, we can always have some more. So the Chennai International Airport is all set to get five PVR movie screens. The facility would be the first of its kind in India. The theatre is going to be in the multi-level car parking complex that is already under construction, and is just the right kind of entertainment for those who have a lot of time to spare before boarding. It is going to cost INR 250 crore and is being built by the Olympia Group. The theatre will also have numerous food and beverage options for guests. According to reports, the five screens will seat about 1000 people and should be completed by the end of 2021. PVR is expecting 20 per cent of the theatre-going population here to be transit passengers. While this is the first of its kind in India, movie theatres are already trending in the rest of the world. Singapore’s Changi Airport has two movie theatres, located in Terminals 2 and 3, and are free of charge. Interestingly, Delhi Airport too has a movie theatre that is a bit different from the rest. Here, you get to experience a state-of-the-art 6D theatre, with simulated experience such as rain, smoke, fog, snow, etc.

Peru to install cameras at Machu Picchu after tourists damage sacred property

Just a few days back, it was in the news that five foreign tourists were arrested for damaging the sacred and ancient Inca citadel in Machu Picchu. Nobody had expected such misbehavior but it did happen and took one and all by surprise. After the incident, the authorities in Peru have now announced that they are now installing security cameras at Machu Picchu to safeguard the ancient property from such tourists. Jose Bastante, who is the head of the archaeological park in Machu Picchu informed that a total of 18 cameras will be installed at three secret places. These cameras will be placed strategically at all the significant locations in the region. Also, they will try to install these security cameras on possible access points in the mountains enveloping the revered complex. The authorities will also deploy drones for increased security. Mr. Bastante said that by doing this, they will get better control and visitors will avoid any action or infraction to the regulations, also curtailing any type of risk.

Kerala Tourism earns a special mention by UNWTO for its Barrier-Free Tourism Project

Last year, Kerala announced that it will make the entire state, especially the tourist destinations, disabled-friendly by 2021. And now, its Barrier-Free Tourism Project has won global mention with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) that has hailed it as an ‘Emerging Global Destination’ in the Accessible Destination Awards 2019. As per a press release, Kerala Tourism Director P Bala Kiran received the conferment from UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili during the awards ceremony that was recently held in Madrid. The recognition was for implementing the project in Thrissur, the central Kerala district, which also became India’s only destination to win the honor. Further, Kerala has also been the first state to work as per the guidelines of UNWTO to make tourist destinations disabled-friendly. The award is given by the World Tourism Organization and ONCE Foundation that works for people with disabilities.
