Thailand Aims To Reassure Travelers With New Safety Protocols
Thai authorities have introduced new measures to enhance tourist safety, aiming to rebuild confidence among visitors to Thailand. During a cabinet meeting on Monday, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra called on relevant agencies to address issues impacting the country’s tourism safety image and to implement comprehensive strategies to reassure travelers.
The government has also instructed law enforcement agencies to deploy sufficient police personnel to ensure tourist safety and to actively promote awareness of the safety measures in place. On Tuesday, the Thai Police held discussions focused on combating transnational crimes. Senior Inspector General Thatchai Pitaneelaboot stated that police departments have been directed to strengthen screening processes, provide support to potential victims, and take decisive legal action against offenders.
Additionally, Thailand plans to collaborate with international organizations to establish a data-sharing center and implement special checkpoints at border crossings to counter human trafficking. The Tourist Safety Operations Center, established on Sunday, will oversee police coordination nationwide to create a systematic safety framework for travelers.
