Japan Airlines cuts Melbourne-Tokyo flights and launches a vibrant Nintendo-themed jet to attract more travelers, driving Japan’s tourism surge in 2025.Japan Airlines (JAL) is making bold adjustments to its flight operations, including a major shift in its Melbourne to Tokyo route while simultaneously launching an engaging new marketing campaign. These strategic changes come as Japan experiences a surge in international travel, driven by its ongoing tourism recovery efforts.
Effective March 30, 2025, JAL will cut back its Melbourne-Tokyo service, reducing weekly flights from six to three. Moving forward, departures from Melbourne will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, while return flights from Tokyo Narita will be scheduled for Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. To accommodate demand, select weeks in April will see additional flights.
