Swiss International Air Lines accelerates fleet modernization with New Airbus A350 Training at Zurich Airport
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is set to take a major step towards enhancing its fleet by initiating cockpit crew training for the Airbus A350 starting this February. The airline will leverage the newly installed full-flight simulator at Lufthansa Aviation Training Switzerland (LAT CH) in Opfikon, near Zurich Airport, to prepare its pilots for the upcoming aircraft. This marks a significant milestone in the airline’s ambitious fleet renewal strategy, with the first of the new A350-900 aircraft expected to enter service this summer.
With a fleet modernization plan underway, SWISS will soon be receiving its first of ten Airbus A350-900s. These cutting-edge aircraft will replace the older Airbus A340-300s currently in operation. As the A350s are being assembled at Airbus’s Toulouse facility, SWISS is prioritizing the training of over 50 pilots in 2025, utilizing the state-of-the-art A350 simulator that mimics the aircraft’s flight dynamics.
